I just bought the game on Black Friday, and man am I lost. It’s a lot of fun though. Maybe I’ll use this mode to follow around players who actually know what they are doing. :)

I think that recruiting characters to join your party felt like the main difference to me. Even in something like Shin Megami Tensei you’re collecting monsters. In Okami it was just the two of you.

I’d argue that Okami was one of the best JRPGs in the history of JRPGs except I’d call it a Zelda-like than an RPG.

Yeah, the “call for help” feature is great for leveling up specific EV values but it should really only activate after you’ve caught at least one of a pokemon. That way we can fill out our dex with one of everything we don’t care about and not end up responsible for a Caterpie genocide.
