right. sounds like the OP needs something that's pretty basic. Myself, I don't see buying any hardware that boxes me into a corner. If you have the knowhow and are willing to futz around a bit, why buy something that isn't flexible like XBMC is? Perhaps "1080p" is your answer, and if so, fair enough! But if you

biteSMS will tell you if a message fails, i think.

pick up an apple TV for $100 or a cheap foxconn box off newegg and throw XBMC on it. More flexible than roku or wd live or whatever else.

whitson gordon got into that a while back. shoot him a pm...

yeah, though we're probably not "naturally" supposed to be living till 80 either. and not "naturally" sitting with our asses pegged to a chair looking at screens. And not "naturally" treading on pavement. etc, etc, etc! :-) Nature is old news.

I also think it's awesome how google has bought a bunch of companies and then thought, "meh, nah, forget it. we'll just let it sink."

"—" is a standard code that marks the beginning of the signature so that clients can remove it before replying and then add the current user's signature instead.

Fingers crossed for merged inboxes, though i'm not expecting it. Sans that feature, i'm sticking with iOS Mail...

What's the best proggie for making slideshows on windows? Is powerpoint the only viable option? Presentations on Macs tend to look so much better, surely just cause of the built-in apple slide program...

One way would be to install XBMC on your Apple TV. Then you can serve up everything from there to DLNA devices via UPnP [wiki.xbmc.org] .

This seems like a pretty big waste of a High 5, which only come along every so often. Most modern OS's take care of their own defragging AFAIK. Why not use a High 5 to highlight something a bit more useful?

eager to hear of users' experience with the service. I can imagine some cases where I'd buy a cheap used book online and have it shipped directly to these guys.

these all look great - thanks for the tips. I think one good tip is to search for "portfolio" themes. Without knowing the lingo, it can be hard to find what you're looking for! I also found another one that looks nice: "Garnish"

interesting - i'll check it out. only downside is that it doesn't play nice with outlook or whatever, but its so full featured that i don't really think you'd want it to. thanks for the tip!

anyone use any nice themes for wordpress (or otherwise) for personal websites? I'm playing around with one I got from themeforest [themeforest.net] but truth is that they don't have many that are geared towards personal sites.

still waiting for thunderbird support. "Send Later" is good, but TB has to be running and connected for it to work. Boomerang on TB would be awesome for scheduling messages on the boomerang servers.

thanks ursa. I'm not a GTD'er, but sounds like the todo implementation might be a winner. re: getitdoneapp, sounds nice, but i really want something i can take offline. Thanks to Mickets and Buillaume8375 too, but again, looking for something i can take offline...

i'm really looking for something that allows me to setup tasks hierarchically (under projects, for example), and then select from those for my todo today list. Kind of a mix between microsoft project (but without all the complication) and pomodoro (in terms of how it pulls "todos" from the activity inventory).

it may, but the developer is very responsive and can surely add some default rules to take care of some of the big sites. furthermore, you can add your own exceptions for the few times things get messed up. It used to be alot messier, but the developer has done good work, and now I never have any problems with it

Hmm - what I really want is something that will slowly turn my volume down to a baseline after I crank it up for a song I like (and then I forget to turn it back down. my poor ears!).
