I just read about a fire started by a 5 yr old playing with matches in Philadelphia; now this?! Such a tragedy. I feel so badly for the victims and their families. Fire is one of my phobias after watching a neighbor’s house burn down in the late 80s - a child perished. Ever since, I’ve had a strong fear of fire.

All of this is terrible. R.I.P. to all of those lost to this tragedy.

I love Sidney Poitier and have immense respect for him and what he accomplished. But yes a number of roles he took were “safe” roles. Honestly though, I feel by doing that he paved the way for other black actors to take on less safe roles.
