Yeah, I think it can at least be argued (though not definitively) that both Loki and Better Call Saul are *better* than the things they spun off from.
My wife’s comic book collection blows mine away. Not only in good choices of things bought when she collected as a youth in the 90s but also back issues she hunted for. She has an entire run of the original Miss Marvel, which has some really early Claremont work. And her X-Men back issues collection completed my…
Everyone really shits on Secret Invasion but it was appointment TV for me. Every week I knew that I could turn on that show and get the best hour of sleep.
Among the many reasons I disliked Secret Invasion were Maria Hill and Talos’ deaths and don’t get me started on G’iah (Kahlessi) and her all encompassing powers that, chances are, will never be seen again in any future MCU project.
I always hated the big “cerulean” speech from the original. It’s a loaded die. You don’t notice in the movie because she’s confident and has the room’s attention, but she’s cheating. In truth, it wouldn’t matter what color Anne Hathaway was wearing, because some fancy ass designer at some point would have worked…
Yeah, she did Broadway stuff if you’re into that sort of thing, but more importantly: Dr. Seward in Penny Dreadful.
I thought it was funny! Not his real name, but casting the other quicksilver as the fake quicksilver.
At the time I was like “whatever” about the Boner joke. WV was the first D+ show and so nobody knew what to expect with tie ins, crossovers, character cameos, etc. It was a big build with little payoff at the time.
I was a 13-year-old boy in the long, long ago, and I am 100% here for Kathryn Hahn and Patti LuPone.
It’s gonna be wild when it turns out to be a spinoff of Legion.
Come on, women love covens.
At some point “all-star cast” came to just mean “has working actors you may have seen before somewhere”. (Miles Gutierrez-Riley has four previous screen credits.) Kinda like what happened to “supergroup”!
Looks like this is taking the Lost World/Better Call Saul/Loki approach of taking a fan-favorite humorous supporting character and serious-ing them up enough that they can carry a series...but end up diluting the fun/witty character you fell in love with.
nah it’s not an age thing half of these actors are over 50 and on imdb one of the younger ones is credited as being best known for agatha all along. i think it’s merely a ‘cast’ not an ‘all star cast’.
I know that, as you say, Marvel’s stock is not at its highest point right now. But to be honest, the only MCU show they’ve put out that I outright disliked was Secret Invasion. All the others have at least hit “that wasn’t terrible” for me, and there’s been some legitimately top-tier stuff like Loki S2 and (most of)…
Didn’t “She-Hulk” introduce Hulkling, or was that a different Hulk-adjacent kid?
yeah that scene with cheadle and jackson on the train was actually really well-acted and quite moving. it was just...on THAT show.
I mean I know Patti Lupone since she’s been around forever but every single other person on that list sounds like someone slapped Scrabble tiles down randomly.
It’s entirely possible I’m just out of touch, but Plaza is the only name I recognize from that all-star cast.
