Regarding Simon, it seems pretty clear that Lucy convinced him that he's different now and doesn't need his old family anymore. They only captured Chloe (the daughter) to use as a bargaining chip for the other dead folks.

The thing is, the seemingly pathological fear of guns, combined with the technical ignorance of many gun control proponents, is part of why gun owners don't feel that the other side can be a rational political negotiator.

Yeah the idea that he's an unintelligent man is simply absurd. The guy was a Rhodes Scholar and maneuvered his way into office against long odds.

Yeah, that's true. For once the "jungle primary" worked as it theoretically should, with the more centrist candidate having the edge in the general election.

"Fun" fact: Phil Robertson got a man elected to the US Congress last month. His endorsement allowed outsider/novice Vance McAllister beat a GOP state senator in the LA-05 special election.

Yeah I glanced over the reviews page tonight. 3 A grades in a row is unheard of. And then right after I'm done with Season 4, the 5th one will be airing.

I saw Frozen, and really liked it; it was a felt like a good mix of traditional and modern Disney.

Yeah I thought this was a great Final Jeopardy clue, tricky but not too difficult. I didn't have any trouble with it.

It's even crazier when you consider that historically, she was like 20 years older than Henry II. Although I do like the way her ironclad hold on him is depicted, that's pretty historical and dramatic.

Well, this show basically depicts Catholics as superstitious quasi-Pagans anyways…

Well Hurston died before President Obama was born, so that would've been a poor choice

Well this is a super-late response that nobody will see, but it wasn't an TCA award for best actress, but rather for "Individual Achievement in Drama." They don't divide it out by gender. Maslany for drama and Louis C.K. for comedy were the only acting awards given out.

Random fact: I've been told that under Alabama law, that would've been misdemeanor sexual misconduct, not rape.

I don't understand how anyone can rate season 5 so low. It was just so excellent on so many levels.

So, I couldn't watch this live at work, but apparently Amazon already has the latest episode available for download; they were up like, 2 hours after the episode finished airing. I've never seen it that fast before.

So in the pilot, Lucy says to Jerome, "Sorry, it doesn't always work," and Jerome wants to try again a week later. I thought he couldn't perform sexually, but this puts a new spin on things. Funny how he's all Mr. Rational regarding Christianity, but willing to buy into a (probably bogus) psychic.

Yeah, I would also like to agree with this perspective. At this point it's clearly about the characters more than the mystery.

I watched the first two episodes of The Returned, which is spectacular. A uniquely disturbing premise, executed with great style and competence.

You realize that this isn't a municipal SWAT team, but instead is the federal US Marshal's service? Not every small city needs a SWAT team, but the federal agency whose main job is to track down fugitives definitely does.

And yet if you put the lead guy in a cowboy hat and gave him a colorful backstory, people here would eat it up that near-infallibility with a spoon.
