The point is, their mechanics are supposed to be trained experts in their systems - that's why they charge the big bucks.

I disagree. Nothing was replaced, just cleaned. Cleaning corroded copper connectors (say that 10x fast) should be within their diagnostic capabilities of a dealer's service department.
The dealership might not be at fault but they certainly aren't providing the service that they advertise. A auto dealership should be able to repair the vehicles that they sell. When a dealer can only bolt and unbolt parts they run a wasteful business that turns away customers and hurts the automaker.
I disagree. They'd have to disconnect the battery anyway, so testing the voltage of each cell the way this guy did should absolutely be on their diagnostic checklist. Then they'd be free and clear to recommend battery replacement - which, like you said, is probably the issue most of the time.
I'm sorry but they want $37K for a 5 year old Raptor with the weaksauce 5.4? That's crack pipe.
I worked at a farm and fleet store through college and one day a lady came and bought a park bench, it was assembled and I wen't to load it in her truck for her and she threw a fit about the truck being brand new (pretty sure they bought it that day) and that I can't scratch the bed. She watched me like a hawk and…
uhhhhhh........just open the doors first then run a rope/strap around....
that was my first thought too. I picture some teen hacker in a room with a couple dozen USB hubs trying to subsidize his Summer trip to Ibiza by getting car insurance discounts for his parents friends.
I'd actually love to hear his thoughts on this! Progressive might have an ironclad document for this stuff, but if not, the possibilities could be priceless (in both the monetary and comedic senses)!
Just get an OBD programmer , like a Superchips module, and set your tire size to half of what it is now. You get 14MPH per second for your braking limit, and your driving distance is halved as well.
I earned a substantial discount.
"12,000/yr, 5 days a week, Commute only." Yup seems legit. :)
No thanks, I'm quite comfortable lying about my driving habits.
The hell is your problem?
Does this guy also have an alternator tattoo?
I bet everyone gasped as soon as the kid hit the gas pedal.
