When I bought my truck, I explicitly told them no decals, and the PDI guys put one on anyway. I told my salesman if they wanted a good survey, he'd fix it. They were removed within 10 minutes of installation. I kept the plate frame until I could swap my registration and use my trades plate.

So for $10/month your money could be in an FDIC insured checking account... once you've "saved" $2k the $10 fee can be waived. Still better than a mattress... which could be lost in a house fire, or stolen.
