Thank you for pointing out the change in tone with Mike's voice. I noticed that as well. Certain bits of dialogue start in an upbeat copy of a Midwestern accent then settle into a deeper register of menace. I wonder if the fact that Mike is the only person of color (that we've seen) involved in dealing in the Midwest

The more I reflect on It Follows, the now comfortable I am in saying that it's grossly overrated. I'm no horror buff (far from it actually) but I do enjoy suspenseful movies which is how it starts but as Taranto pointed out in his interview, the mythology gets all jumbled up in the middle and then it's neither scary

So the one book that gets short shrift when Goosebumps is discussed is The Headless Ghost which escalates in horror.
1.The two protags hear the story about the old sea captain who dies and comes back to haunt his mansion and his young wife=OK
2. Kid's family moves in and is attacked by Ghost who yanks of his head and

Too many lines for me to quote but one thing I love is that on the version shown on TV, they always edit the scene in the cabin where Krumholz's character sees the poster of Michael Jackson and screams. I remember watching the movie when it came out and not knowing why that was funny…

Holy shit, I totally forgot about that song AND video. They made such a huge deal about it on MTV, now I realize nobody really wanted a nice Alanis…

Apparently there's a Tremors III where the Graboids have evolved into more forms including one named "Ass Blaster" due to its "explosive flatulence". It's like the B movie equivalent of Face Huggers, I guess?

We already allowed the prisons to be privatized, why not just start at the beginning of the criminal justice system, right?

The only interest I have is Courtney B. Vance as Johnny Cochran. I wish I had a DVR so I could just watch his scenes and pretend like this was a one man televised play…

Speaking of, does anyone have a GIF of her dancing? I need it, uh, for scientific purposes…

Remember, she's a PR rep so she most definitely use that language as a member of show biz.

Drink your milk ladies… and 1%of all men.

That's clearly going to be a callback, right? She's either doing like a one woman show or writing a play or something…

Why have we stopped using titles like "the Younger"? So much classier than "Junior" but more esoteric and unique than "the 2nd". I should've thought of this when we had our son…

What's also lost in these discussion about the future of TV is live sporting events. Rights to NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, EPL, NASCAR, Summer/Winter Olympics etc. are sold for hundreds of millions based on the fact that they're subsidized by every cable subscriber, basic or otherwise. And unlike the rest of our current TV

Really, we're not going with
The AV Club? You think you know a group of commenters…

I remember "Dinner for Five". That's all I have to contribute here…

There's some question as to whether he was more comfortable performing material that he wrote vs. material written by someone else. Apparently, the jokes he had during the ceremony he had been writing in his hotel room and testing out with Arsenio and Chris Rock.

Wait, are they implying that Splitsider is insufferable?
*chants* "Web-site fight, web-site fight!

Mr. Cage, is that you?

Wait, I got a real bone to pick. In an article about a movie based on 90s kids literature, you gonna bring up Jumanji, a 90s kids classic but in describing a racous kitchen scene, you compare to Gremlins?! You just gonna shit on those CGI monkeys like they weren't the real menace of the entire film? That's
