I've actually been out of college for about a year and a half now but I've been using that method for a few years now. That way I never lose or forget about the gift cards and try to only use them when I don't have other funds.

I have a wallet solely dedicated to gift cards. Whenever I'm low on funds I'll dig through it and find a place to eat or movie passes, and every now and then a place to buy clothes.
