I agree, I didn’t read the books you described, but I did read Hatchet, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Old Yeller etc. I think I, and a lot of kids, gravitated to survival and “a boy and his dog” narratives, because we lacked freedom and autonomy in our own lives. That and I went through this really big dog phase. 

Well now I feel bad because I really enjoyed both those types of books haha. I think even as a kid I was a masochist.

Same, my right shoulder was out of commission for a while due to a surgery and I couldn’t even put up my hair. Luckily, I had enough time to prepare and taught my boyfriend how to put my hair in a bun.

I didn’t have trouble understanding it, likely because I know enough about the shows not to be confused. The sentence is a bit clumsy though I’ll give you that. Reversing the order would probably make it clearer.

I used to like the fact that Reddit was a consolidated place for discussing shows, but I’ve found it really depends on the subreddit. Some shows and their subs are just too big for a quality discussion and there were times when the fandom was really negatively impacting my enjoyment of the show itself, see Breaking…

Loved “Someone Who Will Love You In All Your Damaged Glory” and I highly recommend the audiobook, read by actors from Bojack.

I believe the current manifestation is more about that, but I would say the origins are solidly racist. I would still say that there are undercurrents of anti-Asian sentiment, but how strong they are probably depends on the individual case.

Which is weird that I found his body language to be opposite to what I’ve seen of Bruce Lee, which seems very flexed, upright, rigid, hard and fast. But admittedly I haven’t seen much of Bruce Lee.

Seconded on the 3rd season. I was ready to quit Korra after S2, but I am now willing to acknowledge and accept its existence as it set the stage for S3.

Same, the general conceit was interesting enough to endure the characters for at least 1 season, but I knew there was gonna be too much anime bs when they started doing flashbacks to the first episode in the second one.

I mean, logically I know that. But viscerally, hard to get there. Maybe if we can supersize the worms and stick them in a shell. 

Same, I prefer impossible burger in general to beyond burger, but the beyond famous star was superior to the impossible whopper due to the fact that famous stars >>> whoppers.

Not all, but afaik, a lot of kimchi uses a type of fish sauce or oysters and shrimp to ferment. My korean bf makes his own kimchi from time to time because he says all the ones available sucks. And yes for Thai and Vietnamese, fish sauce is used in lieu of salt or soy sauce, most of the time.

I think it would be read differently if there were more scenes showing Sansa struggling and dealing with her trauma but there isn’t much and I get that there’s just not enough time. That and the way Sophie played the scene,  it reads fairly straightforward.
