What’s so weird is the tagline is effectively the same one they use to sell Mazdas here

The other explanations in the thread are fine I guess but they miss an important point: why it lightens the steering. Camber and caster are set by king pin inclination relative to the tire’s contact patch. With skinny tires the king pin ends up beside the wheel (rather than in about the middle of it with a fat tire)

I thought train brakes worked the other way around.  Unlike a car, pressure is applied to release the brakes so if pressure drops they would just lock up.  This is why train cars are able to be parked without being connected to a locomotive or having to be chocked.  Transport trucks and trailers are the same way.

This is exactly the kind of hard-hitting journalism I come for.

This is about on par with the “Make Kylie a billionaire” gofundme.

Replaced their GMC Safari with a different GMC Safari.

Beetles (the original ones) also had a transmission tunnel with nothing in it but a couple cables.  It’s a structural thing.

Well, I found the snitch:

You know what the ultimate Elio article would be?  You guys should build one.  Beat them at their own game.

I wonder if an electric clutch cylinder is just seen internally as a step towards an electric brake cylinder?

They turn up for sale online from time to time, and I seem to remember someone having a farm full of them somewhere around the Ottawa area if you needed parts.

You know what? I like what they’re doing and I think deep down you do too. This is what Rodney Dangerfield would drive if Caddyshack were to be made today and let’s be honest, he’s the Caddyshack character we all want to be.

I’d like to see the concepts start looking like something that would actually be produced.  Even then, I probably won’t believe they’re actually building these until one is in my driveway.

And now, a reminder of the world’s worst crash test

That settles it: somebody start SpeederCon on some other week of the year.

So the Jetta becomes the Passat, the Passat becomes a crossover (because why the hell not? everyone else is doing it), the Tiguan becomes the size of an Atlas, and the Atlas is pushed into being a party bus. What could go wrong?

Call me crazy but the shape just doesn’t excite me. Maybe it will look better without the wrap.

I can’t believe I have to explain this yet again: if you want something to be faster, make it lighter. If you want something lighter, add holes.
