Yeah, when it first became a thing w/ the IPA crowd they called them Norwegian IPAs but now they don’t usually even acknowledge the yeast as it has become super common.  Funny thing is if you ferment below 90 it can add some funky flavors most of us definitely don’t want in an IPA but perfect for some other styles.

So Kate, maybe you can answer this? Do they have different judges for each category? It seems like a totally overwhelming task to judge the huge amount of styles & it would be interesting to do a story on the judging process.

I just brewed a batch w/ Kveik yeast for those exact reasons.  It really is super clean if you brew at 90 or above.  Much easier if you don’t have a glycol chiller to keep 90 in summer than trying to keep 65.
