Your comment was little more than pointless textual self-flagellation. As I said earlier, neither women nor victims of sexual assault need your guilt.

Hey, how about not trotting out “sex-negative” in a post where someone in BDSM raped a woman despite her use of safewords, huh? Maybe realize that “sex-negative” is the new way to say “frigid” and stop using it, because the idea that we can’t discuss how damaging certain aspects of sex can be to women is horseshit.

I didn’t read that as #notallmen, I though the comment was addressed at nycyclist his/herself, that being a survivor shouldn’t mean you won’t ever love and trust anyone again and that there are good people out there too.

Because consensual BDSM play has nothing to do with actual rape. Many sex-positive feminists engage in BDSM without it conflicting or cancelling out their feminist politics.

Lots of women have rape fantasies. Please remember that kink shaming is not okay, and neither acting in nor viewing videos simulating rape is an endorsement of actual rape.

I’m so sorry to read this. I’ve genuinely never had this happen to me, please don’t believe all men are like this.

You've been exposing your Russian bias across multiple posts. Go drink some vodka troll.

Oh cool the Putinbots are here!

Agreed. Selma was very by-the-book and there was nothing about it that made me think for a second she deserved a nomination for best director. We need more women directors but that doesn’t mean I’m going to say every single woman director out there is a genius just because she’s a woman. Tarantino’s comment was bitchy

I agree. I was pretty disappointed in Selma. Idk if it’s because I actually remember it all, but it just didn’t seem to have the fire of the actual events.

Tarantino is right. Selma gave more of a made for tv vibe than being an overwhelming visual and intellectual work of art, worthy of an Oscar. It also did not connect with the audience (grossed just over $50 million domestically), despite very good reviews and the fact that Ava DuVernay as one of very few black female

I just learned that yesterday. Very surprising. The Belgians are almost all first and second generation immigrants from Muslim cultures, so it seems the country is having a very serious problem integrating these people. 6% of the country is Muslim, BTW, and about 500 of them have joined ISIS. If I’ve done the math

What I love is how quiet the Islam-defenders are on articles like this. It’s almost like their heads are busy up their asses or something.

Yeah...I know teenagers are impressionable and all that, but it’s hard to imagine someone reading about these creeps beheading children and thinking “Sign me up for that!” It’s sad, but my sympathy for anyone running off to join them is pretty limited.

This x 1000.

It really irks me the way discussions around these parts involving crimes committed by teenagers inevitably feature someone screaming how they’re “just children!”. It’s like there’s this binary between a person being a completely helpless child and a fully functioning adult, as if there isn’t a huuuuuge

Yeah teens can be dumb, but come on, in general they’re not join an international terror cell dumb. Blaming this on their age greatly underestimates teenagers.

We are constrained in public debate by universal consensus to one of two positions: either that all Muslims are ISIS, or that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. This is detrimental for everyone, but especially for minority Muslims and ex-Muslims living in closed societies who are being brutalized while we take it in

Same as all the deadbeat dads who knock up women and run. We really have achieved equality!

It was well over 30 minutes, Ellie and I were watching in bemused delight for quite some time before she finally decided it deserved serious coverage

Unfortunately that’s how misogynistic hip hop is, right? That a rapper not calling his girl a bitch is some kind of feminist accomplishment lol
