Goddammit, you’re kinda selling me on this movie and its inversions of normal archetypes now

I didn’t see those behind the scenes pics, and I’m sure the degree to which it was taken kinda lends itself to being funny at a certain point. It’s just hard for me to see it on screen with no additional behind the scenes context, and I could argue that shouldn’t really influence my perception of the movie qua movie.
See, now, I can at least somewhat buy into this argument, even though past violence is always played as a motivating factor in his movies and (I’d argue) he rarely-to-never plays the violence against women as an element of humor. It doesn’t decrease my utter distaste of that movie though.
I saw it opening weekend, on that 70mm roadshow version. The audience was probably 90% guys, and they fucking ROARED every time she got punched in the face. I’ll admit the audience turned me off (LOTS of dudes wearing UFC-type gear), but I’m not a fan of women taking a vicious and goddamn bloody beating, played for…
How is this anything but a self-own by the Knicks front office? “Our most popular player thought we were such garbage that he threatened to turn down boatloads of cash, visibility, and fame to go play back in the hinterlands”
Her beating was mostly played for laughs, including moments where she’s spitting out teeth. I don’t NECESSARILY buy into the “QT is misogynist” narrative, but Hateful Eight really isn’t the best movie to use as an example. I walked out of there pretty disgusted
Love this idea and the photos, hate their names
Part of baseball’s deep appeal for me is all the mindgames and psychological tricks that exist, i.e. Chavis calling time to get Stroman out of his rhythm. But it’s weird that baseball players have origami paper for skin when presented with these facts
This is a BIZARRE taek. Broussard was trying to burnish his “journalistic” “credentials” with some lies that were pretty clearly disproven, and the idea that Twitter DMs = texting is deeply incorrect. All Broussard has to do is post some screenshots and show KD’s putting lies on his name, but that’s never going to…
Aside from sporadically watching my team play, I have completely given up on the NFL as entertainment. The endless litigation has made the product borderline unwatchable and I continue to be amazed that it’s such a ratings leader
LOLLLLLL, you haven’t watched an NBA game since the aughts
I would be ECSTATIC if they kept video replay with a rule that if you can’t tell the difference within ten seconds, the call stands. The ENDLESS time watching refs stare at a screen is killing professional sports
COOL CAT! Holy SHIT is that terrible
You forgot to mention that Aldi chocolate is the fucking BOMB. AFAIK, there isn’t one close to me in CT, so literally every time we’re visiting family in the midwest, we buy an absolute shitton of it to take back

I’ve been raving and thinking about this movie for 3+ years and NOT ONCE has that fundamental tension ever occurred to me. PHENOMENAL point.
Again, just my opinion, but they definitely seemed to have a lot more agency on the rewatch
I think they were more referring to when Black Phillip becomes a human and basically looks like a “thieving Gypsy” stereotype, which I can at least see if not agree with, but they definitely stretched a bit
Jesus man, if half a sentence in all caps is what caused you to have a snit, you’re going to have a hell of a time with the rest of the internet
Fair point. I reflexively fall back to the idea that people whose territory is being infringed on by others are more inclined to be “good guys” but there isn’t really a “good” in this scenario
