Absolutely. It was a joke in terrible taste. But… you can’t hit people because they made you mad. That’s still assault.

LOL, congrats on discovering Wikipedia. Maybe learn to check out more than one link before you make dumbass comments based on the assumption that the first Google result tells you everything you need to know.
He worked for Boeing and invented a new hydraulic resonance suppressor for 747s while there. While working there, he started doing stand-up, and appeared on some local-access comedy shows before he got his own show that eventually became Bill Nye the Science Guy.
How dare you, sir! My art is not driven by such cynical motivations!

Surely by now the arcade has burned down.
That’s still 63 fans.
My father was an Exxon executive tangentially involved with the creation of this ride. Don’t @ me, the family divested our stock long ago and I drive an EV. The gossip I have is that Ellen was a last minute replacement for Tim Allen, who had originally been signed for the gig until Exxon got wind of his cocaine bust.…

Just wanted to pop in here and say thank you again to everyone who’s read and commented on these columns over the years! You’re a very smart, insightful, funny bunch and it’s been so nice to share a little rom-com corner of the internet with you all over the years.
I’ve really enjoyed your work here and will follow you wherever you go next; I think I’m not the only one who wants to encourage you and other former AVC staffers who are leaving in the current profit mandated exodus to start a substack or something. I’d kick in $5/month or something to read stuff by you and the old…
Hey folks. I just wanted to drop in and say thank you to everyone here for all the kind words, and also for reading what I’ve written at The A.V. Club these past nine years. Because of Dowd, Vishnevetsky, and sometimes jesse, film coverage–specifically reviews–were pretty much the only thing that kept alive the old open-minded-but-critical spirit of AV Club. Depressing to see it go away entirely.
I will say, while I appreciate any lack of histrionics over the Future of the A.V. Club As We Know It!! I initially felt a little let down by this episode, as another article I read teased that this would entail a major reveal about Peggy. You may be right about the nine-month sojurn... otherwise “Peggy had a working-class beau” is not much of a big deal in and of itself.
Tammy? Do you mean Aimee-Leigh?
