I was not suggesting the toast was the most relevant/only factor in Tom and Caroline’s betrayals. Not sure where you’re getting that.

If getting ambushed to do a toast were the worst crime against Shiv, she’d be in a much better place.
OMG. Are you kidding?
I think you might be watching a different show than the rest of us. The good news is, it’s not like someone’s holding a gun to your head*—you’re totally free to just change the channel/website and watch something else.
It was nice to see all the Roy kids on the same side for once. I hope we get at least a few episodes to explore that dynamic before it all falls apart again.
Shiv wants her mommy so bad. That speech was painful. There was a wonderful parallel between Shiv’s toast and Roman coming to his father with love.
Boy, Shiv sure did live to regret that toast, huh?
See, I really don’t think institutionalized fits with the jersey giveaway. If anything, I think the parents would be holding onto the jersey to remind themselves of who Jackie used to be in that scenario.
I’m not saying they won’t turn out to be wrong, but the dialogue seemed to indicate that everyone thinks Jackie is dead fairly conclusively.
Misty setting up the whole thing for attention is too obvious, but boy she sure did spot the weird symbol in a random assortment of disorganized Polaroids fast.
I know it’s fairly on brand for Dexter, but the complete inconsistency around Dexter and Harrison holding back some personal info but not nearly enough to prevent anyone with access to Google from coming up with a short list of who they really are is seriously annoying. Especially when they’re already “out” to some of…
Yeah, I watched both last night so I’d be free to focus on Succession.
Kate’s inherit, maybe even unconscious belief
Too obvious?
Counterpoint: the quotes are self-explanatory enough that you don’t need to leave them all in to give the reader a sense of Strong’s personality. It’s twisting the knife in a way that’s fair and accurate but doesn’t reflect well on the author’s charity or self-restraint.
So actual nude scenes with actual 12 year old actresses are fine as long as the narrative perspective makes it clear the audience is not supposed to approve.
You mean you didn’t see any of (checks IMDB) the 78+ other movies/TV shows that song has shown up in over the past 50 years?
I get the frustration with her mother (who costarred in at least one sexually explicit movie with her teenaged daughter. But wasn’t her mother like...filthy stinking rich already? Seems like more of an attention thing than a money thing.
I missed that—looked like it was mostly about the mother to me. (First line asks why everyone’s piling on Barbara Walters as opposed to Calvin Klein and Sheilds’ family/team, which is sort of my take, too.) But I agree that Shields is not the one to blame.
Yup. That’s exactly right, Mortal Wombat. F- for reading comprehension.
