Pareene’s judgment regarding Clinton’s campaign strategy has been fucking awful this year, probably due to his bias towards Sanders. He can barely deign to acknowledge how well Clinton is doing so he picks at her judgment in all kinds of snide ways that don’t make sense given the facts on the ground.

This was a pretty great pick but he wasn’t “exciting” for gawker, whatever the fuck that means.

Seriously, spare us from the “wisdom” of 30-something straight white dudes like Pareene and HamNo. So exhausting. (And, for the love of God, no, Hillary didn’t “almost nearly [lose]” to Bernie. She beat him handily.)

And he’s one of the very few politicians brave enough to stand up to the NRA. I think he’s a very admirable person.

I would argue his Civil Rights record- which he’s spent most of his life working on- is pretty impressive and says a lot about his character but I guess that’s nothing compared to being a blogger

I think it’s important that Kaine is actually, genuinely, a good person, which is a very sharp contrast with Pence and Trump regardless of their mutual lily whiteness.

Doesn’t the guy have an impressive and important civil rights background, above everything else? Isn’t that kind of a helpful thing in this political climate and in the years to come?

So what is he for?

“Of course he doesn’t phrase it that way because he’s a gibbering idiot, but I think even he’s not dumb enough to flat out mock shell-shocked soldiers.”

He insulted McCain, a former POW and Humayun Khan’s family.

I think he honestly fears the APPEARANCE of weakness as much as he fears weakness itself. Thus all the preemptive bombast when nobody asked for it. If he hadn’t been so obsessed with projecting strength, i.e. through his judgment of PTSD, he wouldn’t have fucked up so royally by putting PTSD sufferers on the ‘weak’

People spend days picking apart ‘what he meant’ in hopes that it can be spun into less of an atrocity.... but really, his quintuple-downing habit just makes the atrocity fester & smell worse day by day. The media could save SO much time just by reporting this shit, interpreting it at face value, and moving on to

His words were awkward but seemingly well-meaning. The general sentiment here, for once, is right on, and he actually displays a rare glimpse of empathy.

He thinks weakness/illness is just as low for a man as a woman being unfuckable. So I think he just didnt want to offend military people by associating them with any illness. So he tried to reference people weaker than they are and it all came out wrong. It’s because he believes he’s infallible and can’t imagine any

Yes, English is the only language he speaks. He claims to be in perfect health, physical and psychological.

Really? He mocked McCain for getting caught. He mocked a family that lost their son in the military, and compared his companies employment of people to their sacrifice. You really think he would draw the line at not calling soldiers with PTSD weak? Arguably this is the least offensive of his many offensive

I want to know why Trump needs 10,000 interpreters who don’t know him to explain to the world ‘what he meant’. Maybe, just maybe, HE MEANT EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID. Which is why he quintuples down on it when you challenge him on it.

yes, that’s what he was going for, but then he said that strong soldiers don’t get PTSD.

can translate Trumptivims to us ?? sometimes

Goddamit Jon, you couldn’t hold out for just one more year could you? Is dealing with Vince McMahon better than what you were doing with TDS? YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU MAN!

To me it sounds like he’s trying to say, “civilians see fictional depictions of war in movies and TV and think that it doesn’t look so awful, but in reality the horror of war is something you can’t appreciate unless you’ve experienced it first hand”
