Buzz and Electric are right. No other nation on earth has done more for so many.

I have to agree that cost-plus has to end. We have had so many systems have massive overruns, and lost systems as a result.
Horseshit!
Because these are first strike weapons, not second strike weapons that follow the first and second strikes that are intended to disable anti air and warning radars and establish air supremacy.
Remember that bomb and cruise missile technology has come so far since the B52, whose payload was designed for optical sight delivery.
Still haven’t improved on the bombs they dropped?
I don’t disagree with you in principle, but actually gridlock is part of the design of our government. Sure, I would rather see progress than gridlock, but I also would rather see gridlock than the wrong things happen.
Exactly. The military has the responsibility to maintain the combat effectiveness the assets we invest in. If they cannot manage to that standard, senior officers in charge should be relieved of command, and we should stop funding unmaintanable equipment.
The only thing lower than a US Naval ensign is a Russian Naval ensign.
Interesting point. Several hundred Ospreys gives the Corps far more capability than what it replaced. It would be interesting to see a graph of Corps lift capacity over the past 20 years.
I don’t dispute that, but if oil goes back to $70 per barrel, all the disappeared rigs will magically reappear.
Honestly, if any service can only maintain 23% readiness, the class should be grounded. I Served many years and full well understand the difference between industry and military management, but this is one area where the military can benefit from industrial management practices.
Fortunately, if we get comrade Sanders or comradess Clinton, we will also get a republican congress, and absolutely nothing will get done for four years.
The Alpha was louder than a bleating sheep. Rebuilding it is a bad idea for them and a good idea for US Navy sonar techs everywhere.
Actually oil prices are projected to remain low for the foreseeable future. Certainly there will be modest adjustments, but the fundamental oil resource equation has changed with North American production significantly offsetting Arabian and Russian production. While it is true that North American wells are more…
How bad did you F up to get sent to the army?
Once a jarhead, always a jarhead?
Exciting is when that LCAC powers off the surf delivering devil dogs onto someone else’s beach!
True, but they don’t want them either. We can’t afford anything, and I’ve never heard the argument advanced by anyone that we should sacrifice Apaches in favor of A10s.
Exactly right. Everyone loves that an A10 can rip up pickup trucks and dirt bikes, but we need to prepare ourselves for a much to formibible fight against a much more formibible for.
