This design is basically an advancement of how we track subs via aircraft and sonobuoys now. Instead of a set of aircraft dropping static sensors into the sea to track submarines, this concept would allow the drone to hound dog the submersible after detection. As an example, a pack of these things are loitering above…

Dead on there. This concept is basically a self propelled sonobuoy. And in ASW, the whole point is that the sub is going to try and get deep and quiet, not surface to screw with the sonobuoy.

All of warfare will soon be asking the question of drone warfare. In 20 years we will have autonomous combat aircraft, naval vessels and land fighting vehicles.

It will primarily use passive sonar. The trick is to track without the sub knowing you are tracking. Active sonar is effective, but the minute you start pinging the bad guys know you are on them.
