Agreed. In this case the defense industry developed two radically different designs for the same operational specifications. The fact that the Navy couldn’t decide and then chose both defeated the intention of competition.

I completely agree. The future of all air platforms is drones and that’s exactly where we should be looking. The other advantage of your concept is that you won’t need FACs, gun drones could be tasked to and controlled right down to the platoon level.

We probably agree that the Key West accord is dumb and that the army should be able to operate what ever CAS aircraft they want to, although I suspect they would prefer more apaches over A10s.

I agree. Except, the sexy sultryness of their jets is offset by their pig assed ugly helicopters, so it’s a wash.

Unfortunately for the pig, we man the most formidable weapons systems on earth with men mentally strong enough to not be bothered about a (potentially) drowning pig.
