I'm a huge Whedon fan, but I honestly think he just likes to mess around in that sandbox these days and doesn't care too much about the results. That's not a crime, the guy has earned it, but I really hope season 10 brings things back down to Earth.

Buffy could be corny, brilliant and silly (sometimes a mix of all 3) but middlebrow? Certainly not. It was a very ambitious show.

I was intrigued by the Buffy pregnancy thing at first, it wasn't the best idea in the world, but it had some real emotional stakes and I thought Buffy and Spike's conversation by the pool was the high point of the season but then they did that whole robot thing and bleeehhhhhh. It just got worse by the issue.

You know I'm excited for Buffy season 10 and the A&F team taking over but I kind of wish Dark Horse had just kept them on that title. Buffy is my favorite TV show of all time, so I always get suckered into the comics (sometimes to fun results, like BKV's Giles and Faith arc, or Brain Lynch's Spike miniseries) but…

I understand your rule but you should definitely break it for Angel & Faith, you haven't seen the best it has to offer yet, the 4th trade is great. Truly captured the feel and emotional stakes of the show while making the scope large enough to befit a comic book (something season 8 really struggled with).

The Buffy comics are a real mixed bag, it has some great arcs but overall I can't really recommend it. Angel & Faith on the other hand is super great and you should check it out immediately! Oh and the team behind A&F is taking over Buffy "season 10" so I have hopes for that.
