I was a dev on this game; it was my first full-fledged credit in the games industry. Some of my fondest memories in my career are from working on it. We got away with a lot of weird stuff we wouldn’t get to do on future titles.

Personally, I had a blast with the whole weekend, but I had a lot of holes to fill and a lot of people to run around and raid with until I was basically dead on my feet at 6pm.
I agree wholeheartedly that the Hoopa tease was stupid, but the rest was pretty much what I expected. It’s Pokemon Go Fest; the stories are never all that compelling, and there’s always one brand new Pokemon available. Part of what makes Pokemon Go Fest so fun is going out and interacting with fellow trainers. The…
Instead it feels so miserly, almost to the point of contemptuous
Wow, this article reads like a huge temper tantrum from someone who’s child didn’t get their expectations met because of their favorite Pokemon movie…
It wasn’t an anticlimax, it was a fun present!
I mean...yes? Of course you’re going to be at high risk of losing talent when your work culture is toxic. That’s kind of how it works.
Just putting this out there, have they considered not being awful pieces of shit? Just for a change of pace?

Or y’know, we could just charge money for games commensurate with their value and not exploit the consumers. There’s no good reason for any of this lootbox nonsense to exist in the first place. So yes, kill the model.
Thanks for saving me a comment, and far more eloquently than I could have managed.
See, I’m the exact opposite; the thing that always stops me from going back to Left4Dead (for more than a nostalgic, ‘oh yeah, I remember that!’ run or two) is the lack of any kind of progression system. (Well, that and a lack of ADS gunplay.) At this point, the ‘RPG-ification’ of games is so complete it just feels…
It’s not the early 2000's anymore you ding dong!
Isn't Dwarf Fortress free? I'm not sure how you can compare the two...
“Massive.”
