That’s from Michael’s article yesterday!
That’s why males don’t like being even loosely associated with women. One of the deepest, most cutting insults you can level at a man is that they are like a woman.
ROOO, girl you should have wagered money on this
When I hear a man use the word “females” it usually clues me in that they are not particularly comfortable around women. Like women are some sort of alien species.
ROOO, girl you should have wagered money on this. Cause they are HEREEEE….to explain to us little ladies why being called female isn’t offensive at all. Which really translate to, “At least you aren’t being called a bitch, pigeon, or ho, so why are you complaining??” Also, it’s your fault since you won’t give us your…
That is the least metrosexual or cosmopolitan take possible.
I strongly disagree with using “female” as an adjective. That presupposes that the noun (journalists, in your example) is, by default, a man. What is a woman journalist called? A journalist.
How about because we asked you to?
Do you also give people nicknames they didn’t ask for?
Why not just say Woman/Girl? I say Man/Boy or Woman/Girl not male or female because I don’t talk like I’m part of a survey.
But then how will the commenters on the Root complain about commenters on Jezebel?
But seriously, you can just say journalist.
Guys who still have trouble wrapping their head around what women prefer to be called. Know how when white folks seem to have a mouth full of marbles saying African Americans and you just now they usually use choice others words not in your presence? But still that made the effort and you’ll let it be? and then how…
Why would she want to break bread with an asshole like that?
Perhaps Cam needs to take the reporter out to dinner and bond over their shared idiocy. Wrong is wrong, no matter what else she may have said or done in the past. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
The thing that is very telling is the same people who use “female” almost never use “male” in the same context. They will say something like, “men don’t like when females do xyz” - you see it on social media constantly. You even hear women speaking like this. It’s misogynistic bs.
This is an extremely well-written article. Simple, to the point, and effective.
*waits patiently for #NotAllMen crowd, especially the subset who should really know better when #NotAllWhitePeople enrages them*
Apparently they have discovered the reporter tweeted some racist stuff in her past. Twitter is roasting her. Roast her all you want, but Cam was still wrong.
When I was in the Army, this drove me absolutely crazy. At basic training random instructors whould shout out “hey female come here”, but of course if it was a male soldier they would simply say “soldier come here.”
The word “female” strips a woman of her humanity, reducing her to her sexual parts, and people who use female tend to view women through that lens.
