Because many people receiving assistance already work. Or are elderly and have a hard time finding paying work. Or are disabled. A blanket “you have to have a job before we’ll help you” requirement is counterintuitive.

Housing, health care, and education. The three most vital things we need are also the most unaffordable. Funny coincidence, that.

Keep the health insurance, and just stop eating. Duh.

Show me where in the U.S. you can live safely, eat well, have reliable and convenient transportation, and get access to sound, affordable medical care for $320 per week. My family of four and I will move there.

Getting assistance with food and shelter when you’re desperately poor is just the epitome of privilege, isn’t it? Why, as Mott Romney once enlightened us, these people actually think they’re entitled to food. The idea!
