At least there’s a super small bit of hope here that it seems some officers at least thought the police officers thought what happened was over the line.

This! I remember my brother getting in trouble for riding a motorbike around a local park. He (nor our family) knew it was an issue. He was told to stop and that such bikes were banded from parks. He did not have to be tasered to be stopped. This is just crazy.

Conservatives just can’t let go of their notions of gender roles. Feminism is evil because they’re telling women it’s not okay to be a mother. No.... they’re telling women you can be whatever you want without shame. Be a mother, a doctor, a pilot, or anything else. Or don’t. Whatever you want to do, it’s your choice.
Th

I would disagree. There’s nothing wrong with being drunk. The fact that a drunk person cannot consent doesn’t prevent them from being arrested for drunk driving, or drunk breaking and entering. You can’t say you didn’t break the law because you didn’t have the ability to consent to driving. If you’re drunk and break

I think I get what you’re saying now. I hesitate to say either person could consent if they are both legally too drunk to consent, but I would say neither committed a crime if there was no one forcing themselves on the other. I would relate that situation to one where two individuals under the age of consent engage in

What I’m saying is, if there is an aggressor, the aggressor clearly committed a crime. But in the real world, you can’t just go accusing people of crimes without proof. So, I agree with you that I wouldn’t not feel comfortable calling something rape based only on the fact that a person does not remember or would not

I think it’s possible for person B to start out consenting. It’s also possible for person B to not consent from the start. In either case, whether consent is revoked during the act or never given, engaging in sexual activity while a person does not consent is assault.

I’ve often asked that question, too. I explained in another comment on here that, in my opinion, the aggressor is guilty. The example I think of is a drunk person driving home and a dunk person walking home. If that drunk person driving crashes into the drunk person walking, the drunk person driving is clearly guilty

I thought of that. I could be wrong, but isn’t it the law that a sober person having sex with a drunk person is always rape? Or something like that is law.

“Might have sexually assaulted” is not how this encounter would be described if the story was about a woman in and out of consciousness during a sexual encounter

I do feel like the law could do a better job of defining what consent is and is not in the scenario of two drunk people.

I’m so tired of this abortion debate. How long until women will be allowed to make their own decision about their reproductive health care?

I agree. I sometimes imagine what I would do if I found myself in a position where I chose abortion due to a significant defect or if I had a misscarrage - I would 100% want to donate the fetus to science in the hopes that the fetus could be used to prevent those issues from happening in the future. Or, if the

I for one have sat in Starbucks for hours without buying anything. I often use them as places to meet up if I’m, for example, meeting with a vendor I found on Thumbtack. Never has it been an issue.

...or at least a bunch of seats in the House, why not a brief foray into private life before attempting to become the president of whatever dystopia remains of the United States in 2024?

I can’t even believe someone actually said that. That’s like saying it’s not health care unless you’re going to die without treatment. I mean, how many people take medications just to manage certain health conditions? That’s really what contraception is at the end of the day. A tool to manage health.

I feel this isn’t scientific in the least. If I wanted to test a procedure that would reverse the effects of laser hair removal, I’d have to first find myself a group of volunteers and have them all agree to undergo the laser hair removal treatment. I’d then cut the group in half and give just one group the procedure.

Imagine for a moment that abstinence only education is the rule of the land. Unplanned pregnancies and abortions increase. The GOP controls all three branches of government. What is their solution?

I can’t believe I just voted for Trump somehow still being president, but I really don’t want to be a handmaid, guys.

I still don’t understand how anyone can be against this anymore. Certainly SOMETHING has to be done.

omg. I had no idea it was that bad!
