This must be a state by state thing. In my state, after you buy a gun and pass a background check, you’re required to wait three days before you can actually take the gun home. It’s a small thing, but at least it prevents people from making a split second decision to buy a gun and commit a crime with it.

If you kill someone while drunk or steal something while drunk or commit literally any other crime while drunk, YOU STILL GET CHARGED. Being drunk is not an excuse.
