I think his take is misguided but not ultimately wrong. Yes lidar is a fantastic technology but as I’ve said in these threads before, why are we putting the entire onus of navigation on the actual vehicle? Is it necessary to build what is essentially a fully autonomous mars rover just to take me to the grocery store?
