You’re right about Australia. Though I will add that Canada is not the shining beacon people think it is. It has a terrible record when it comes to its indigenous population. I have heard regular stories of indigenous women being arrested by the police and then being found dead in the snow many miles from civilisation.

And yet the government is still homophobic and will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into same-sex marriage. Australia is not a country I’d want to point to as being “sane” at the moment. The English-speaking world is largely just different flavors of fucked up at the moment maybe save Canada.
