Yeah, I agree that art is good when it reflects a variety of viewpoints. I just see daylight between that and “there’s a societal interest in making sure people have the financial security to purse an acting career.”

Art and culture is kind of essential to a society continuing to function, and if the arts are inhabited only by the wealthy you get art that doesn’t understand over half of the society it comes from. 

You don’t have to be a mind reader to understand when you have power over someone.

I guess I’m not convinced that people are owed the chance to make a living in the arts/entertainment. Say we start the list with life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness...where does “waiting tables until nailing an audition” come in that list? It’s certainly not near the top.

I think nearly everyone my age watched Sesame Street & The Muppet Show as kids, but I don’t know anyone who would call themselves a Jim Henson fan. I might watch that documentary.
