Sort of. The news that Blue Beetle would be released theatrically was reported by Variety on December 16, 2021. Source: https://variety.com/2021/film/news/blue-beetle-toto-last-train-to-new-york-dates-1235135675/amp/
do you have a source on that? this is the first i’m hearing they bumped it up to theatrical before production.
Yeah I watched it last weekend and it was not good. I don’t mind Ezra Miller as the Flash per se but having 2 Ezra Millers was not a good choice.
Yeah for all the complaining about the bad CGI in the intro the CGI in the time travel portions was TERRIBLE. Like it was The Rock as Scorpion King level is terrible.
I don’t think that’s fair. He’s done some really cool things in his earlier movies. It Chapter 2 and The Flash are bloated messes, but those are script problems. The camerawork in both of them are still strong.
Blue Beetle was made in the same fashion at Batgirl. Not only is this an admitted fact, but it's also obvious when watching Blue Beetle.
Batgirl also had Michael Keaton in it.
The article headline says that “multiple ACCUSERS didn’t want to participate in the film”, but then the article says that COMEDIANS are the ones that didn’t want to be involved. Sooo.... gonna fix that AV Club?
I hope somebody snuck out a copy before it was scrubbed from the servers.
I look forward to the day Batgirl shows up on the bootleg DVD circuit.
So is this like if I said jimmy fallon is unfunny? He is also a douchebag but who cares if I think he is unfunny? Martin short has his moments, but I never thought he was particularly funny. I do not think he is a douchebag though. Why do they need to defend him? He is either funny or not, and that comes down to…
Yeah, no shit. Tell that to Cereal Killer. I’m just showing that he did, in fact, have something to do with any of that.
There’s legitimate reporting explaining what happened. As a direct result of the merger, Warner Bros. Discovery was saddled with a huge debt, and Zaslav announced a round of cuts that would pay down about 3 billion of that debt - the cancellation of Batgirl was among them. There have been a lot of news reports about…
“Gunn (who, in October, was named as the new co-CEO of DC Studios at Warner Bros. along with producer Peter Safran) told reporters on Tuesday, according to Deadline: ‘I will say here that Flash is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.’”
I’m skeptical that it makes sense from a business perspective, at least for the company. Unless their budget problems were an existential threat to the new company, which seems unlikely, in the long-term it makes more sense to have even a bomb that takes 5-10 years to become profitable than to have have a total loss…
At night, the Chuckle Hut becomes the Laugh Factory.
I also heard that members of Drew’s audience were kicked out today for wearing WGA pins given to them on their way into the studio by strikers. THAT SUCKS! Does Drew “own” that action too???
I’m not sure how her show is produced, but if I were her, I would have sought a waiver from WGA as A24 has done, which basically means that at least her show agrees to follow all demands of the WGA’s contract during the strike. With that being said, my guess is that the show is produced by a big studio or corporation…
If it’s all ad lib and on the fly, I figure it’s probably not a violation. Even the WGA’s statement specifies writing: “Any writing on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ is in violation of WGA strike rules.” It’s a talk show. She could just have guests on and talk with them about whatever comes to mind - like a normal…
