After 26 years with Hamm, I would also probably argue that $1 billion wasn't enough.

They made a lot of really smart changes when translating the book to the screen. The changes to the pacing and the story lines they teased out were particularly good. I also appreciated that the ending of season 1 was a huge departure from the book.
