I’ve NEVER heard anyone deeply involved in policits consider this a “distinction without a difference”. These are wholly independent organizations with strict separations in power and funding, for instance. Different leadership structures, different mandates. This goes back decades.

Politics in the country is undergoing a shift toward the extremes. There are plenty of young Conservatives popping up too and no guarantee yet that any of the recent liberal mass movements will have a lasting impact.

Omar had some missteps early on, being a bit too loose in how she talked about sensitive issues, but she genuinely apologized and seems to have learned from her mistakes, which is what you hope to see from a public figure.

I can’t think of anyone John Lewis would have liked to have seen less at his funeral than George W. Bush, a war criminal Lewis opposed at every turn.

I’m tired of white journalists always trying to get Trump to comment on something like the passing of John Lewis. They don’t really care. They just want the sound bite of Trump saying something horrible. They don’t care that this hurts the people who loved and respected Lewis. It’s all spectacle to them.

It isn’t like Lewis was attending all of the president’s inaugurations during his time in Congress, he didn’t attend George W. Bush’s 2001 inauguration either.
