What if you change up the terminology a bit. What if it isn't reasons why you "like or dislike a movie" and becomes reasons why you do or don't feel confident in the artistic choices and vision (or just competence) of the director/creator? The movie might not be "bad" because it has a plot hole, but a certain

I appreciate how they really do try to keep the production of the movies relatively realistic. There are a few cheats here and there, but for the most part they do a great job of using techniques and props that an actual kid (with a hell of a lot of refrigerator boxes) would have access to.

Ah, good. I thought I was going crazy since I could have sworn all of season one was in Squigglevision, but then saw comments like Miller's below that made me think it had only lasted the first few UPN episodes.

"Brendon Gets Rabies" has to be in the top ten. It and "Director's Cut" are the two episodes I've shown people to try to sell them on the show. Though reading some of the comments here, I wonder if I'd be better starting post-Squigglevision — but how can you pass up Kafka's The Metamorphosis, The Rock Opera

I remember seeing the original promos for Home Movies' premiere on UPN (I was in college at the time). The clip they featured most prominently was the scene of Jason snorting the string of snot back up into his nose. At the time, I thought this meant the show was all juvenile gross-out humor and deliberately ignored

I also kind of liked the Squigglevision (but I was also a huge Dr. Katz fan — which seems to have rather oddly dropped off the syndication map). I think the show still looks good without it — I'd even concede that it looks better — but there is a kind of charm to the squiggles. Especially when you realize that they

I'm on the staff of a literary magazine, and our magazine has a contract with the big database Project Muse (which a lot of libraries subscribe to — it's a digital repository of journals). Project Muse pays us to have our magazine be one of its offerings. We rather recently agreed/arranged to get our entire back

Though this is where you'd think something like Netflix would step in. Neflix gets to add to the size and scope of its catalogue, and the rightsholders get that trickle of pennies that's still at least better than nothing.

The final scene of "The Conversation" must give you nightmares.
