I don't know. That sounds a bit like someone saying they're a "beer enthusiast," but they don't really care about the difference between getting a particular beer in a bottle or draught, or who don't really care what temperature it's served at. Those factors just don't matter to them. I have hard time believing that

Spendthrift.

Spendthrift.

I'm still trying to figure out the dynamic that led Republicans from celebrating "mavericks" who didn't toe the line four years ago to basically being on a witch hunt now to root out anyone in the party who isn't a "true" conservative.

While I haven't watched a 3-hour marathon of it, I'm kind of a sucker for the Mike Holmes shows. Maybe it's because live in a house that was built by a complete incompetent (e.g., they used interior paint on all the exterior trim, so now virtually every door and window is rotting out, and my brother nearly got

I like to think that the two lead "scientists" are actually just fringe wackos — basically "Bigfoot Hunter" types. I mean, we never see them interacting with the larger scientific community. They seem to be practically alone at their Scotland dig. Their big theory requires virtually no special expertise or insight. So

Addendum: The first trailer I remember being really subject to frame-by-frame analysis was the Phantom Menace trailer. How much did just that movie (and that particular hype environment) contribute to this practice? Can anyone think of an earlier noteworthy example of internet trailer parsing?

I do think there's a second phenomenon worth considering here, which is the frame-by-frame analysis of trailers that the internet has made possible. I love trailers. I actively seek them out. But I have begun to have to fight against the impulse to go frame-by-frame through trailers trying to discern more information.

You would lose your $120?

I have actually heard actors complain about one common feature of voice acting, which is that you frequently have no interaction with the other actors. And if you're of the school that good acting is reacting, and there's nothing to react to, then the experience can be rather unsatisfying.

If you're looking for substitutes, the BBC's "In Our Time" is a good one (though its history topics are just in the mix with science and philosophy). Also, "Backstory, with the American History Guys" has apparently just been relaunched as a weekly show as of this week. I don't know that I'd say either of these shows
