The first episode is really cool. It kind of works as a mini movie unto itself. After that your mileage may vary.

What annoys me the most about this show (aside from the endless cliches & tropes) is how they use the planet as a giant mystery box to move the plot. Everytime they need something to happen, they introduce some random ass creature, or hallucination. None of the characters have authentic motivations anymore. They’re

If they change the protagonist who cares, but the show should have a protagonist.  As it is its an incoherent mess of plot threads.

Super disappointing to see this show go down such a cliche route.

This season lacks focus and an emotional core. Hughie barely feels like a supporting character, let alone the protagonist. There are too many characters and perspectives overall. The tone isn’t as precise. It feels a lot more like a soap opera, and a lot less biting and satirical.

I had the same problem with the Watchman movie.  But I moreso just found that scene to be pointless and cheesy.

Ryan Murphy is terrible

“Its not like she had a relationship with Moody”

she liked Tripp as in she had a physical attraction to him. thas bout it

Um is there not some middle ground between “I own any woman I like” and “the woman I had a substantive relationship with decided to sleep with my brother.” Lol wtf. Lecturing Moody is not feminism.  Pearl did not really like Tripp, and their relationship made no sense.  That does not mean she had to be with Moody.  It

But him being a spy is central to the mystery and murder.

Yes but she takes him not coming clean to her about being a spy as confirmation that she must go back to her ex boyfriend. So if he had true feelings for her, why wouldn’t she want to reconcile his secrets with his feelings for her explicitly? Does she actually just HATE Russian spies? Or is she the mother goose of

Why does this show hate Moody so much. Pearl totally betrayed him Cady Heron style to pretend that the popular white kids are her real friends. Her relationship with Tripp is so unearned and random. And at the end of this episode they still dont tell Moody the truth??

You think saying “oh look this is an app on your phone” is confrontation? He’s a RUSSIAN SPY, and she has the chance to tell him that she knows this, but she doesn’t or the show doesn’t see fit to show her telling him what she knows? Does he promoted again? Does he get killed again? Does she care if he gets killed

tranq’d*

I would have shot his wife and daughter, and then trang’ed him, and amputated his dick and balls while he was unconscious.  Then I would have pooped on his face.

This ending sucked. It was totally predictable. She never confronts Sergei? Stupid ‘fate’ vs ‘human choice’ heavy handed thematics. Okay. You can’t write a decent script. Just admit it instead of drawing out every scene with bizarre soundtrack gimmicks, and slow panning shots of nothing, and literally showing the same

The Boys is definitely better than Watchmen.

The script is so awful this season. I’m amazed Streep signed onto this, and HBO greenlit it. This is an embarassment for everyone involved.

I think the insensitivity of that dialogue kinda mirrors their privilege. Like Monterey is the kind of place Tyler Perry satirizes in Get Out.  But I agree about the “shove it” line.
