I’m not sure how I feel about the new generation M5. It’s fast, but being fast was never really what the M cars were all about. I’d never trade my E39 M5 for the latest one. These cars don’t really appeal to me. The sound they make and way they feel doesn’t feel quite right. They certainly don’t feel like the M cars

Orlove, shut up! I’ve been collecting E90s like a squirrel collect nuts for the past 5 years before they skyrocket in value. You just blew the whole thing up.

911 Singer. End of discussion.

Funny Jason mentioned the DS. My father had one when he was about 25 years old. Loved the car, told me all about it when I was young. While my dad had the DS, his friend bought a used SM in 1979 and kept it until 2007.

I remember sitting in a CLK500 with AMG package back in 2004 I’d say. I had a 2002 TL Type S back then which I loved. At the time, the 209 generation CLKs had really sleek lines, still looks just as good now as it did then. And you can grab one now for pocket change. Plus, they’re pretty solid cars mechanically and

Some good advises in there. Advises that I personally give to friends but somehow never put in practice myself.

Wow - if I’d be closer to him, I’d go and have a look for sure. 12K though is quite high, even considering the condition and mileage.

1) E39 M5 - Obvious

You bet! Funny you talk about girls....

They are very solid cars indeed. Weak points are rust around the rear fenders and bottom of thunk lid. A good oil treatment done each year helps enormously.

Andrew, thanks for writing this.

Had mine for 5 years now, bought it CPO. Never once let me down. I absolutely adore it and will never sell it.

Told you guys !! Almost 6 months ago actually ! I knew someone would wake up about the E90 soon and ruin it! Well, unless you act fast, anyone who hasn’t realized the absolute legend this car is will need to pay a premium.

Here’s my Munera - restoration should start in a couple years, or 15. Right after the Citroen SM which should take 20. And my Challenger II ultralight which should take 4.

Congrats on the video. I absolutely agree with 99% of what you said! One thing though, the E36 isn’t the best. But the best is probably not the one you think it is.

I NEED this car. Can someone drive it back to Quebec for me?

Point taken; sound wise, a V8 might be my personal preference. Care to do a blind test with 100 people? Let’s put 2 comparable factory cars side by side, let’s say a E90 M3 V8 and a F84 M4 Twin turbo I6. Let’s rev them and count the votes. What’s your guess. Mine is 90% vs 10%.

I’m sorry but I think we passed some sort of threshold along the way, where we seem to be making excuses for how lazy the new generation of turbo engines sounds. This one’s no different, it’s far from a great sounding engine. Even the E46 M3, considered one of the best 6 Cyl of all time, just doesn’t sound that

Blue interior with blue velour seats? Had to look twice, I thought my dad’s 1987 Nitety-Eight made a comeback.
