I think the Resident Evil films is a much more apt comparison. Experimental viruses, mutated human beings, etc. Black Mesa was about an interdimensional rift.

The original title of this TV movie, as shown in Europe, is actually "The Challenger", which is a much better title — it refers to the shuttle, but it's also a nod to Feynman's outsider status.

Watch Dredd (the 2012 movie, not the old Stallone one). Great movie, and Urban plays an utterly perfect Judge Dredd.
