I challenge someone to diagram that sentence. No, seriously, I want to see what that sentence diagram ends up looking like.

Yes, the panel discussion confirmed that Santaolalla does do the music for Part II. They even played a bit of the music from Part II.

This is on io9, so of course they’re going to be looking at his main science fiction role.

RCN does use TiVo T6 boxes as their standard DVR. The T6 is a cable company-only variant of the TiVo Roamio product line. I also think (but not 100% sure) that they implement Switched Digital Video tuning in the background (using a “virtual” SDV that resides within the TiVo T6). This might explain what happened.

I’ve been under the impression that the guys are playing up the legal aspects for comedy value. It’s just like all the rest of the scripted stuff they did while on Top Gear.

Sure you aren’t thinking of the last season of Knight Rider? In that season, they added stuff like Super Pursuit Mode and a retractable hard top to KITT, and added a new “street-smart” engineer (named RC3) to the team.

There should be a requirement to add an explanation to all of these stories that reads: “Time Warner, Inc. is the parent company of HBO, Turner, and Warner Brothers. This acquisition has absolutely no impact on the entity known as Time Warner Cable, which was an unrelated company that is now owned by Charter

Fascinating, but it sort of left one question unanswered: what do they do now, now that the age of film is more or less over? Do they have a giant data vault as well for newer films that are released only in digital format?

I’d be OK with just about everything about the Prime... except that weird dual hump tailgate. That alone is enough to put me off of this car.

These devices can easily see all access points, even those with a non-broadcasting SSID.

Darn it, you’re probably right. I was going completely based on my hazy memory of the film. I hadn’t seen it in a while. Here’s a star for you.

I attended one of the stops (Milwaukee, WI), and was slightly underwhelmed. Granted, I had previously seen the Star Wars symphony tour twice, so it was almost impossible to compare the two events.

As I recall, it was a Budweiser. Enough said.

When my father died last year, we called the local PD and let them know we would be out of town for a day or so for a funeral, and asked them to add patrols through the neighborhood. They didn’t hesitate; it seemed to be a fairly routine request for them. We also called our neighbor across the street to have them keep

I’ve seen better quality cinematics in video games on a PS3. I hope it’s just poorly rendered because it’s an early concept video.

Milwaukee built the Bradley Center to attract an NHL team in 1988, but one never came.

Yup. There were some really bad front loaders 5-6 years back, most notably the Maytag/Whirlpool (same manufacturer) washers that netted a class action lawsuit. Unfortunately, those bad washers also sold particularly well, leaving a lot of people who bought them (and everyone they told) with a stigma about front

Well, if you compare HE top loaders to HE front loaders, HE front loaders will win any day. They clean better and treat clothes more gently. HE top loaders, from everything I’ve heard, are pretty much rubbish. And since it seems virtually all washers on the market these days are either HE top or HE front washers,

The “original MessagePad” was pretty bad/glitchy, but gradually improved with each new model they released. By the time they hit the MessagePad 2000 and 2100, they were actually really good devices, especially for the time.

It wasn’t Gizmodo that was pessimistic - it was SpaceX themselves. From SpaceX’s YouTube stream description, “Given this mission’s GTO destination, the first-stage will be subject to extreme velocities and re-entry heating, making a successful landing unlikely.” In other words, SpaceX was fully expecting another giant
