which one?
which one?
You can’t vote for a bunch of slightly-left-of-center people year in and year out and then be surprised that the top of the ticket tries to appeal to that.
No kidding. I’m in Missouri, where Republicans hold ~70 percent of the state House and 75+ percent of the state Senate. In order to get elected as governor, a “Democrat” has to pretty much have an A rating from the NRA and be pro death-penalty (being white, male, and Christian is assumed).
So throwing away long-respected journalistic principles, whereby people may tell you things they otherwise wouldn’t/couldn’t in exchange for confidentiality, is OK as long as you don’t like the guy? We’ve become a nation entirely overtaken by feelings.
Sanders, even now, describes himself as an Independent Senator (“WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced Tuesday”). A downballot liberal who similarly gets around the 2-party system but then runs for the Dem nom is gonna face the same challenges around shoehorning their beliefs into the Dem party…
If Sanders isn’t mobilizing people for the midterm elections by the Friday after the Presidential, he’s asleep at the fucking wheel
Fellow Democrats: if you want more liberal-leaning people at the top of the ticket, you need to vote more liberal people in down the ticket. That means showing up for primaries, that means actually knowing people’s policy positions, that means writing to your representatives about issues, that means grass-roots…
On the bright side, Hilary has dealt with this shit for 25yrs and knows exactly what she’s up against. Obama wasted valuable time trying to work with the GOP which Hilary knows isn’t an option even before the scorched earth tactics began. She knew exactly what she was talking about when she coined the very prescient…
If only we had some way to test this, like a lengthy primary process in which she ran against other liberal persons to see who more likely Democratic voters would vote for.
No, I can’t “just agree” to all that. In fact, the fact that facile, dogshit dumb takes like that have been tolerated in the name of tribal unity for this entire cycle is part of why the race is as close at it is.
I will vote for Hillary. I don’t love all the choices she’s made in the running of her campaign. But I think her AWFULNESS is overblown. Could the left do better? Probably.
No. We cannot agree on this because you are wrong. And here is where the far left makes the classic GOP mistake over and over and over again. She’s not everything you hoped for in a candidate. “Doing better,” in your mind, means having someone probably like Bernie who advances ideas that all sound very good to you…
I totally get what you’re saying and actually almost didn’t post this because I was thinking about this exact sentiment. However I work in a state governmental agency and have to deal with Republicans allll the time. Some are good-intentioned but somewhat inept or easily influenced, which is kinda how I feel about…
No, I think it’s the standard tightening of a race in it’s final weeks.
And when you finally get an offering there is no one in the forge to fight it with.
Uncle Ruckus endorses Ed Wuncler much to the dismay of the Freeman’s.
Jerry needs to remind the players not to wear their jerseys while they’re beating women.
Christ, I hope someone is pruning all of the trees at the Peterson estate. Dude’s gonna be angry.
So Bradford’s Styrofoam knees are holding this team together? Just point and laugh at Magary now and save the time.
