I think one winning issue the Dems could campaign on would be Smartgun regulation- all new guns produced come with the same type of lock/unlock as a tablet or smartphone.

Although, Asians, Lebanese and many other non-white immigrants haven’t exactly done badly in the US, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

I wouldn’t lose a night of sleep if private citizens could own no more than a simple revolver or a hunting rifle, but it’s not going to happen any time in the near future.
