"Gee, this Mad Men show doesn't have a lot of doctors in it" — other brilliant commentary from this guy.

I wonder what the population of women in women-only prisons is? I bet it's higher.

They don't need to feel comfortable and accepted, just not actively ostracized and sexually harassed.

Because people never have consequences from missionary-position sex with their Christian spouses. Never! Oh wait, it happens all the fucking time.

Inspirational/aspirational.

Ugh, everything is so fucked up.

and this is why you always vote, even if you're not ecstatic about the candidates.

Uhh, which ones? Cause myself and many of the ones I speak to think this is an issue. It's colonists using an image we've said time and again IS NOT THEIRS TO USE.

From my understanding, Native made stuff is fine! That's actually one of the issues with cultural appropriation: corporations profiting from Native designs. Buying Native made items literally (monetarily) supports the culture rather than stealing from it.

But they have cited a native activist who maintains a blog about this very issue.....

If a massive swathe of people who have been almost entirely eliminated culturally and physically over the past 400 years by my ancestors wants to ensure the respect and protection of symbols and practices that their ascendents died for, then I like to think it ain't too hard to pay that respect.

Well, nobody's calling for the Government to ban it, so you can shit your pants and cry on the internet whenever someone criticizes you about this to your heart's content, but all your talk about "rights" in this instance is irrelevant because nobody is inducing the state to stop this activity.

I still can't fathom why this continually keeps happening. There are over 500 federally recognized Native American tribes in the US. Each has a rich, diverse culture. Not all wear War Bonnets. When that sacred item is used to define "Native Culture" it effectively dismisses all those tribes who are unique. This is

Imma leave this here.

I agree with you, it's completely different. Taking things from a people who are owed a massive apology for a big chunk of their history is wrong.

I hope it's okay if you buy them from Native Americans. I wouldn't wear a headdress but I have some beaded earrings I bought from the Navajo guy who made them and they are so pretty!

Maybe they're really trying to send a subliminal message: "See this person wearing a garment that Native Americans find offensive? They're an Asshat."
But probably not.

A lot of these stores do use crosses in a 'not approved by the pope' way. I think it's different. The catholic church is HUGE, and has been powerful for so long. These Native American traditions are what a small group of people have left after Catholics and other europeans came and killed a huge majority of them, or

When I realized that the feathers were actually letters, I read it as: "ASSHAT" and I'm going to stick with that.
