Well, Volkswagen didn’t shift massive amounts of debt into off-balance sheet partnerships capitalized with its own stock options, so this isn’t *quite* as destructive.

Because if it turns out - however unlikely - that he was spraying water, Gawker Media could be sued. And they’re probably pretty sensitive about lawsuits right now.
At this rate he might want to go for, say, $2M and a new NSX. I wonder if they’ll be around to service a car from the VW group much longer.
Almost Agreed, as the New GM would have fixed the problem without the attempt to scam. The old GM, well their response would have been based on the cost$.
Pretty sure GM and everyone else took the easy way out to on Diesels, too. They’ve all been strangely silent which is something numerous jalops have pointed out as more an indictment of everyone and not just VW.
R8 V10 convertible. Let’s not forget this is America.
We’ve emailed Volkswagen for additional comment, and will update if we hear back.
Citroën and DS cars are a bit weird, but Peugeots are (and have always been) quite conventional.
I think VW going beigekreig opens up plenty of customers to a quirky upstart.
The removable hard tops tend to demand high prices because of supply and demand. There were only a limited number sold with new cars, since the typical Miata buyer parks the car in the garage and takes it out on nice sunny days. But a demand does exist between Spec Miata racers and crazy people like me that daily…

Some people just want the badge and don’t care about anything else.
mercedes cla is a good example of this
You are not wrong about that
Absolutely. I don’t mind paying for Porsche brakes or Porsche engines. I do mind, however, paying something around $800 for the same keyless system which may come free on a VW Polo.
That’s where all the premium brands make huge margins, after all.
The second part was more than calling the dart bad, it’s the entire point. Cars like the dart, which is awful, mostly sell because people have brand loyalty for whatever reason. Thus a small share company like Mazda, can benefit from producing cars for a company like dodge in this example. These weren’t people that…
My 987S didn’t even have *carpets* as standard. Or green shading in the windshield. Or automatic A/C. Or xenon lights.
Luckily, I bought it used (less than 6k km) with a huge discount, as Merrill Lynch had collapsed just two months before and the official dealer in Milan was desperate.
