You read the police response to their daughter reporting her father had raped her? That’s more common than you think. Calling the cops often makes the abuse escalate. With that many children, she probably felt even more trapped. If the police didn’t help his daughter, why should she have believed they would help her?
and she lived with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in college!
Connie Britton is perfection. I ran into her at a thing about a year ago and even up close I was like, how are you this pretty?!?! Also, I read somewhere that she used to live with Lauren Graham in the 90s and to me that would just be the perfect living arrangement.
“Sodium lauryl sulfate is known to cause skin irritation to some who come in contact with the compound, and although it was once investigated by the American Cancer Society as a possible carcinogen. SLS, as it is also known, is found in many hair shampoos and toothpastes.”
That’s the key — I think Honest Company’s shtick is for the most part bullshit, but if you’re going to play to peoples’ irrational fear you have to commit to it. It’s pretty low to gouge people out of their money and then give them what they could have bought for half the price at CVS.
Uh...do you know what the word “appeal” means? They heard his side. They chose not to hear his side again after he’d already presented his side and they’d found that the preponderance of evidence was against him.
You know there’s a link in the article to the procedures that the Committee follows. I went ahead and read them and the process allows the accused to respond in writing, then there’s a fact finding period during which he would presumably be interviewed, then there’s a hearing where both parties have an opportunity to…
Psst. He did have a chance to defend himself. If you care to read about the process, which I’m sure you really don’t.
The university’s policy regarding sexual misconduct allows them to expel students for actions that don’t necessarily rise to the level of sexual assault. It also doesn’t have the same burden of proof as a criminal case. Being expelled for sexual misconduct doesn’t prevent him from being charged with a crime.
I had issues for years that were dismissed as “just cramps.” Then I read Padma’s account of her struggle in Glamour and realized I wasn’t crazy. Her openness directly led to my diagnosis and saved me YEARS of emotional and physical distress. Fuck Salman Rushdie
He’s not wrong in a way...Leslie Jones has a very specific delivery and if she was okay with it...
At least now we know what the rest of the world thinks of Americans.
100% uncontroversial take:
Sure it can. As described in this case, Georgia Tech uses a preponderance of the evidence standard in its complaint process (which plenty of courts have upheld as constitutional). That means “more than 50%.” No more, no less. This isn’t a criminal matter that requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt. So if the…
While the debate about whether it is right/better for a victim to go to school authorities or to the police is a worthy one, this quote...
Just love her.
THANK YOU. It makes me so irrationally angry when people refer to it as a “Whitney Houston somg.”
