Subaru does not use Jatco CVT transmissions. In-house Lineartronic unless I’m mistaken.

Agreed. There are actually several spiders in the listing, but all of them are scrap. I can’t tell what the better GTV is because it seems to have the grille of 1750 but the C-pillar chrome circle of a 2000. The other coupe, sadly, is probably too far gone.
It’s fortunate that BMW is choosing to keep the RWD 2-series coupe/vert around for a little while, but I’m worried they won’t replace it.
I completely agree. Which, sadly, also means that Mini is clearly asking too much money for its EV.
I’m not sure I’m buying the hubris part. Porsche’s biggest nightmare is not really the efficiency, it’s that the Taycan’s battery will not perform well under high-load conditions like driving on the track. Low-speed stop-and-go traffic is the perfect environment for preserving battery life, but a Porsche is not sold…
I’m really surprised that Porsche didn’t try to offer a single-speed rear trans for the non-“turbo” cars. It would seem like a handy differentiator. Tesla’s most efficient model, the Model 3 LR+, is not its most expensive vehicle.
You implied that the Civic is a subcompact.
Well, you’ll be at $36K in the CT4 with AWD, and you might need to step up to the Sport trim at $40K to match well with the BMW. And interestingly, the CTS-V is right about the same price as the M35i.
The 2-series coupe/conv is an old enough model (not UKL or CLAR) that BMW won’t even try to update it.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is a sedan, filling in for the now-departed 320i. BMW already has enough hatchbacks.... the X1 and X2 are on the same UKL platform as this new 2 GC. And there’s a whole host of Minis sharing the same platform.
LOL Mustangs handle bad in the wet.... get better tires. There’s nothing magic about it.
The turbo-3 in an early Cooper would be a fun/interesting swap!
I do, too. The old one was neat, but its longer wheelbase sort of neutered the sharp handling of the hardtop. Now the latest hardtop has been dumbed down a lot, so might as well get some space. Also, it’s one of the few compact sporty wagon facsimiles left.
How about make it stronger? The Miata actually got smaller. It’s possible. It’s by definition a MINI.
I have to think Raph is laughing about that one. Gullwing Motors gets a lot of flack for selling rough projects at big prices. Given the inflated classic 911 market this one might actually be a keeper, but PPI this carefully.
A higher-voltage system allows you to carry more power at given current. That’s less thermal load on the system because current generates heat.
Unfortunately for Porsche, the main advantage of the 800V system is charge rate. The system in the Taycan could easily accommodate 500kW, but the limiting factor right now is the battery (well, and the lack of charge stations capable of this kind of charge rate).
No! I agree it’s not worth it. The engine should be making something around 400 horsepower at that price point, right there with the RS3 and CLA45S.
Temporarily!
I drove a loaner with the 2-liter and it was a hoot to drive, especially on the snowy day that I had it. Better yet, it wasn’t nearly as noisy or rough in the cabin as the WRX I got later.
