They are franchises. I agree ace and true value have actually knowledgeable staff.

This is Ace corporate. As has been stated elsewhere, the individual stores do not have to comply. And local ones are evidently still selling supplies. So don’t punish your locally owned Ace for a nonenforceable corporate decision.

The franchise thing would make sense because our Ace is trash. Lowes is the best around here. Lowes lets me recycle my tin foil and plastic bags.

They are a coop style franchise so it would be hurting an individual more than the parent company. We’ve always tried to shop at Ace because they are usually out of the mega shopping complexes and in our city neighborhoods.

I wondered the same thing. A VERY quick look on the google said: Ace Hardware is a unique franchise opportunity because the company is a retailer-owned cooperative, meaning Ace franchisees are the owners of the corporation.
