Broadly generalizing, but young people these days do not care about cars and various car related lifestyle posing anywhere near as much as the generations before them. Cars are deeply uncool. They are transportation boxes.

I was tailgated by some asshole in a Silverado recently with his headlights on, on a bright sunny day, and I was damn lucky I was wearing sunglasses or I might have been dazzled. Fucking infuriating.

We Americans ARE terrified. Our politicians are insane. The corporations that own them will stop at nothing. We shrug off half a million deaths in a year. A small illness or accident could bankrupt generations of our families. We could be killed by a cop at a routine traffic stop. Our employers have outright contempt…

Co-sign from a fellow E46 driver. The only upside is that most of my driving is either 1) on large highways where I’m far enough from oncoming traffic to avoid being blinded or 2) in urban areas where nobody drives a pickup. But yes, when I’m on two-lane backroads, complete pain in the ass facing those lights.
