I don't know if this is still the case, but as of a few years ago the Jays were on radio in every major city in the country, from Halifax to Vancouver. And they're still national on TV. That really helps other parts of the country see them as the closest they have to a 'home' team.
It feels kind of like the first half of the last season of The Sopranos. It's all about moving pieces into place for the endgame, at the expense of telling a cohesive, self-contained story.
