No, I think she’s saying that only Democrats and Republicans have any claim to be the candidate for the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively. Independents who do not wish to participate in those party organizations are free to run as independents.

Yeah, female friendships can be fucking exhausting. It’s something that has never been truly explored on the page before, and that’s why this series is so beloved by those of us who have been there. Not every work of art will speak to the experience of every person. That doesn’t make the art not believable.

So much this. I got out of a toxic friendship as a teenager, but I felt like I was reading an alternate timeline of my life when I read these. Female friendships can be brutal in a unique way that’s rarely depicted in film/literature
