No, I think she’s saying that only Democrats and Republicans have any claim to be the candidate for the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively. Independents who do not wish to participate in those party organizations are free to run as independents.

Any word on whether Bernie Sanders is going to actually BE AN ACTUAL MEMBER of the Democratic Party or is he just going to once again demand to receive the nomination of a political party to which he neither belongs nor pays dues nor fundraises?

Right, but it seems a bit harsh to blame a man who literally risked his life fighting the Nazis because his sisters chose to marry some of them. None of the British royals were ever down with the Nazi party, except for the one who abdicated.

Philip’s family was split, like many aristocratic families of the time. His sisters married Nazis, yes, but he chose the correct side and was a legit hero in the Royal Navy. His mother also chose the correct side and hid a Jewish family in Athens, and is recognised as one of Yad Vashem’s Righteous Among the Nations.

I’m not buying any of that. Suggestion number one can be rewritten as, “Let’s massively defraud retirees and people who are going to retire soon.” Suggestion number two can be rewritten as “Let’s destroy Social Security altogether.” Suggestion number three achieves nothing that is statistically significant. Numbers

Fair enough. I was trying to point out that there’s a conceptual distinction between what Trump does and what Trump is, and that the market is irrational precisely because they should have been a lot more jumpy these last two years because of the latter reason.

Etan Cohen is also the writer of Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, and Walk Hard. So his putting out something like this is especially heartbreaking.

Yeah, female friendships can be fucking exhausting. It’s something that has never been truly explored on the page before, and that’s why this series is so beloved by those of us who have been there. Not every work of art will speak to the experience of every person. That doesn’t make the art not believable.

So much this. I got out of a toxic friendship as a teenager, but I felt like I was reading an alternate timeline of my life when I read these. Female friendships can be brutal in a unique way that’s rarely depicted in film/literature

If you give people free healthcare, then they have no motivation to work in minimum wage jobs that don’t provide healthcare.

This is like the basic difference between republicans and democrats. Republicans believe you should have to earn basic care by being a deserving person, while democrats feel like there are just basic things we are all deserving off by virtue of being human.

Lol. Yup, it is! If it’s a verb, it’s almost always “affect”.

Your choices are:

This will have no effect on any of our lives.

Or

This will affect none of our lives.

Really? THIS has become “too big a thing?” I’m sorry, that is fucking stupid. If the determination beforehand was that she would make a great candidate and a great president--and I’m not saying one way or another whether I believe those things to be true--this changes nothing, and the fact that we are all sitting here

Did she actually claim to be part of a nation? —serious question.

^thank you, this is the simplified and correct take. Should she? Na, but everyone was telling her she should. Mistake? Not the worst. People gonna use it to trash a woman candidate? YOU BET THEY ARE?

Well the main thing Warren screwed up on is she played Trump’s game. I don’t care how rock hard accurate the test is, it could have said she was 80% Native American and the Trump will still say the same thing. The GOP does not care about facts. The Dems need to give up the whole premise that if they give ground to the

That in memoriam film would be BLEAK.

We also need to force prices down on some things like rent and cars and groceries and other essentials for one’s home.

Easy, take 0.0001% out of the defence budget.  Or scale back Trump’s tax cut.
