yep!!
thanks :D
I find it kind of therapeutic these days to just sit and build a PC when it's quiet (usually late at night when the family is in bed). It's my job, but it's also still a hobby for me.
graphics card.
Water for me. I want max performance and silence, and with modern graphics cards water is the way to go to get it.
Sure, why not!
A custom water cooling loop can be incredibly quiet, but the quietest solutions are actually still air coolers (fewer moving parts is a good thing) as long as you don't want to do any overclocking.
If you're not overclocking, then your stock cooler will work just fine.
980 no question.
If you're handling Far Cry 4, then you'll handle most games :D
upgrading for power savings is one of those things that the eco-champions might say makes sense, but I have a different perspective... Your old hardware is either going to end up in a landfill or running somewhere else, in which case you haven't actually…
From a sheer performance standpoint all in one water coolers never really made much sense. There have always been air cooling options for the same price with similar performance.
For video editing a platform upgrade would be a good idea. DDR2 is so expensive now... and I personally hate investing a bunch of money in what is essentially an outdated machine.
The good news for you is that if you're not playing games you can carry over that graphics card for now, so that'll save you a couple of…
An outdated component should never cause blue screens. It should just be too slow. I noticed you didn't list your power supply in your specs? Maybe that's an issue?

Not sure when our next STDS episode is coming, but as for your CPU, only you can answer that question. Do you want waht you're doing to go faster? Then go ahead and upgrade. If you're not CPU bottlenecked then the FX-6300 is still a perfectly capable chip.
For me it would likely come down more to platform improvements…
The Antec 900 is a bit of a bear to work in and cable manage nicely, but I can't really fault its cooling even today. There's stuff that will perform similarly and look a lot better like the Phanteks Enthoo Pro, but not much that will provide better cooling since that's mostly just a function of how much mesh the case…
